Welcome

Welcome to my personal homepage. I am Nick Breslin, freelance game designer and programmer, professional web developer. I'm an American living in and exploring Germany.

About Me

I am dedicated, motivated and love a challenge when it comes to tasks and projects. Before I entered the games industry, I ran my own web design firm in Bellingham, Washington, USA, where I developed websites, web applications and e-commerce sites for small businesses and professional individuals. In my spare time, I worked on community projects for various MMORPGs.

In late 2008, I relocated to Hamburg, Germany and began following my dream of game development on a freelance basis for iPhone, PC and console platforms. In that time, I did freelance work for Snapdragon Games/Moonbyte Games on both web and Wii platforms, as well as other game designers and developed an iPhone title of my own, Waddlefield.

I enjoy working in a community-oriented environment and strive to exceed expectations. I love to write scripts and am proficient in ADA, C, C++, C#, Java, Javascript, PHP and am always willing and trying to learning more.

I am 23-years old, in love to my beautiful wife, Azadeh, admirer of fine coffee, red wine and good dark beer. I wish to take all my programming knowledge and business experience and devote it to developing online games of various types and genres, building strong communities upon the rich and diverse backbone of the Internet.

Philosophy

My highest interest is online games, specifically role-playing games. I evaluate the game community, seeking that which would better it. For what are people asking? From what could they benefit? Online games, as opposed to single player games, have the unique opportunity for community involvement; simply put, online games bring people together. FPS and RTS games have clans, while RPGs have guilds. Interacting with other people while playing a game is something entirely different than traditional Mario and Pac-Man.

I love getting involved in online communities. Organizing events, making web applications, role-playing and from time to time having the opportunity to add my own ideas, scripts, maps, etc into the game itself. The strength and attitude of a community represent its health and is just as important for an online game as the game itself. A good game with an unhappy or ignored following ultimately will be a disaster. An overly-simple game with a strong, supportive and positive community can be worth all the time in the world for Internet users.

People love socializing. Social websites have redefined the Internet as we knew it. I want to develop games which are community-centric, and set new standards for the online gaming community. The power, influence and interest of our culture are what fuel the MMOs of today. I want to provide MMO communities tools they need to bring their gameplay experience far beyond the console or program.
